About Tobi Fieg
Hi! My name is Tobi Fieg and I am a freeride snowboarder - just for fun as well as competitive. I am 31 years old, married to a wonderful wife and dad of a little son. We live in Tirol, Austria, which is a great base for freeride snowboarding.

Freeride World Qualifier Season 2022
The points from winning Pitztal Wild Face 2021 definitely helped me to qualify for 2* events immediately in season 2022. In January, I competed at the Verbier Freeride Week to collect some points and due to cancellations I got a spot on the starting list of Open Faces Kappl 3*, which I could win. This definitely boosted my points again and I got starting spots in 4* events and eventually qualified for the FWQ Finals in my first season on the FWQ. I finished with an overall 7th rank. You can check all results here.

Freeride World Qualifier Season 2021
This was actually not a season for me, since I didn't qualify for most of the events because I was new to the FWQ and a lot of events were cancelled due to COVID-19.
However, I competed at one event, the Pitztal Wild Face 2021 and won it. This is a very special event, because it's a different setup. Instead of the usual criteria line, fluidity, control, air&style and technique, this is a timed race. So I was super excited about winning the race, but anyway I still didn't know how I would perform in a 'usual' freeride contest. So I decided to give it a try the next season.

Heliskiing Revelstoke, BC, Canada
In 2019, I went on a trip to Revelstoke, BC, Canada with four of my cousins and some friends. We did 5 days of heliskiing/heliboarding and this was an absolutely great experience. It was quite luxurious not to hike but just to be taken to fresh faces all the time and enjoy riding. One of the guys of our crew then asked me, if I didn't want to compete in freeride contests because he thought my riding was quite good. This put a bee in my bonnet and I had to think about restarting my snowboard career as a freerider a lot. But I still had to finish my study program and had to postpone that project.

Full time job and part time studies
In 2015 I basically stopped snowboarding completely. I had a full time job and decided to do a 5-year part time study program in Mechatronics/Machine Engineering at MCI in parallel to my job. The job and studies of course used up almost all my time and I therefore couldn't follow snowboarding anymore.

Freestyle snowboarding
In the following years I spent a lot of my time snowboarding in different parks, at several slopestyle contests and photoshoots. The picture shows a BS5 stalefish at a sunrise in Zillertal.

Groms Open 2010
In 2010 I won the Groms Open in Penken Park in Mayrhofen as a kind of an underdog. I guess this was the start of my snowboard career, as this opened some doors into the community and secured my first sponsorships.
